TPS ADMINISTRATORS PARTICIPATE IN EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TRAINING

As the new school year approaches, more than 100 Toledo Public School administrators will participate in Readiness and Emergency Management Training for Schools. The training is being held in an effort to better prepare the school district to manage an incident that could impact the safety of the district’s students and staff.

All TPS administrators are scheduled to attend a four-hour training session that will cover three areas of the National Incident Management System (NIMS): an Introduction to the National Incident Management System, an Introduction to the Incident Command System for Schools and Operating Within the Command System.
Families trust schools to keep their children safe during the day. The unfortunate reality is, however, that at some point many school districts in this country will be touched either directly or indirectly by an emergency or crisis of some kind. NIMS training will provide TPS administrators valuable insight into the nationwide emergency management system that enables all government, private sector and nongovernmental organizations to work together during domestic incidents.

Battalion Chief Greg Locher from the Toledo Fire and Rescue Division will lead the training.

WHEN:  Monday, August 20, 2007
WHERE: Crystal Ellis Conference Center – 3301 Upton Avenue
TIME: Media representatives are welcome to attend the training at 10 a.m. TPS Superintendent, John Foley, and Battalion Chief Locher will be available for interviews.
