TPS "Getting Connected" To The Community
More than 70 Toledo Public School secretaries and principals will participate in “Getting Connected” training as a proactive way to become more responsive to the needs of TPS parents and students. The purpose of “Getting Connected” training, which is sponsored by the Lucas County Family Council and United Way of Greater Toledo, is to make sure that no matter where a citizen calls looking for assistance, they are directed to the appropriate social service agency. TPS secretaries and administrators interact with parents on a daily basis, many of who are facing a variety of issues - often times these parents are unsure of where they should turn for help. By participating in this valuable training exercise, front-line TPS employees will become more knowledgeable about the availability of community services, will become more “parent-friendly” and will reinforce the districts’ commitment to providing excellent customer service.
WHEN: The “Getting Connected” training is scheduled for Friday, January 18th beginning at 8:45 a.m. County Commissioner Tina Skeldon Wozniak and TPS Superintendent John Foley will welcome the attendees at that time. Then, from 9 a.m. – noon, participants will hear presentations from representatives from: the Lucas County Family Council, United Way’s 2-1-1, Lucas County Department of Job & Family Services, Kinship Navigator Program, Parents Helping Parents, Family Information Network and Lucas County Children Services.
WHERE: Thurgood Marshall Building – Board Room
