RIVERSIDE ELEMENTARY STUDENTS TO CAST THEIR VOTES

Students at Riverside Elementary are gaining valuable knowledge regarding how the election process works, as they prepare to cast their votes for new Student Council officers. Several students are running for the office of Student Council President, Vice President and grade level representatives. Those who are running for these highly sought-after offices have been actively campaigning for the past several weeks; their political strategies include hanging posters throughout the school and making speeches to students in an effort to demonstrate why they are the best candidates. This important political exercise is geared toward giving students a better understanding of their right to vote and how they can become educated and engaged citizens. Voting will take place tomorrow morning – campaign results are expected before dismissal.

          WHAT:     Student Council Elections
          WHEN:     Tuesday, November 6th – voting for specific grade levels are set to
                          begin at 9:25 a.m. 9:25 a.m.will conclude by 10:30 a.m.
          WHERE:  Riverside Elementary School – 500 Chicago Street
