Parent Teacher Conferences Are Important To TPS

John Foley, Superintendent of Toledo Public Schools, is a firm believer in parents being involved in their child’s education. On Monday morning, Mr. Foley will hold a press conference to encourage all TPS parents to attend this year’s Parent-Teacher Conferences; conferences are scheduled for November 20th and 21st for elementary and middle school students. Mr. Foley will also review the district’s academic plans for this school year and introduce a new, comprehensive student report card. the district’s Win with 10 Parent Volunteer Program.  Whether a parent/guardian joins a school’s PTA, volunteers in the library or serves on an event committee, parental involvement is proven to be one of the key factors in student success.  Numerous studies have indicated that children whose parents/guardians share in their formal education tend to perform better in school; benefits include higher grades and test scores, positive behavior and attitudes, better attendance and greater self-esteem.
