Summer is a time for children to ride bikes, swim and spend time with their family and friends. It's the time of year when kids can be kids. While summer does provide a break from the classroom, we also encourage students to keep learning throughout the summer months. There are many ways to do that.
For those elementary school students who would like a little extra help with reading and math, Toledo Public Schools is offering a special summer school program.
Several community agencies and attractions are sponsoring educational programs and activities that offer an interactive approach to learning and help children to better understand the arts, sciences and nature. For more information on these summer programs, see the telephone numbers and website addresses below.
Another important part of a well-rounded summer is exercise. Encourage your son or daughter to keep active by riding a bike, roller-skating or playing sports. The City of Toledo's Athletic Office is coordinating a variety of youth sporting activities. For more information, please call 419-936-2877 or visit www.ci.toledo.oh.us.
