The Board of Education recently approved a new contract for the Toledo Federation of Teachers, making it necessary to make modifications to the three-year student attendance calendar.
The main change is that four non-student attendance days have been added to each of the next three school calendars. That means, for example, for the 2017-2018 school year, students will not be in school on Tuesday, November 7 (Election Day); Wednesday, November 22 (the day before Thanksgiving); Monday, January 8, 2018 (the day after Christmas Break) and on Friday, February 16, 2018 (which gives students a four-day weekend in honor of Presidents' Day).
Teachers will have in-service days on November 7 and January 8, while November 22 is a negotiated holiday for both teachers and paraprofessionals and February 16 is a negotiated holiday for teachers (paraprofessionals will report that day). The contracts for members of the TAAP and AFSCME unions are still being negotiated.
