Kirk Heidelberg, a 1976 graduate of Woodward High School who went on to coach at the college level and in Europe, was introduced as the new head coach of the Waite High School Indians on Monday, May 8.

Mr. Heidelberg, who is in the Woodward Hall of Fame, is a graduate of Morehead State University in Kentucky. He has been an assistant coach there, as well as at the University of Toledo, Tennessee State University, Lehigh University and Kansas University.

In addition, he has been the head coach of both the Hamburg Blue Devils and the Cologne Crocodiles of the German Football League and served as the offensive coordinator for Team USA in 2010 and was an assistant guest coach for the Toronto Argonauts in 2013.

Toledo Public Schools is thrilled that this TPS Proud graduate wants to return to his roots.

Dennis Hopson, ex-NBA player and TPS Proud graduate of Bowsher High School, admits he can be picky.

So it’s doubly impressive when he praises the recent work that was done on his truck by seniors in the Waite High School automotive collision program. The two-year program, taking during a student’s junior and senior years, currently has about 30 students.
