Early High School Opportunity (EHSO)

EHSO stands for Early High School Opportunity. There are two paths that students may take as part of their EHSO experience.

Path One is an academic program for high-achieving students who meet EHSO eligibility requirements in the 7th and 8th grades in Toledo Public Schools. Students may take one of the following: band, orchestra, choir, Algebra 1, a foreign language, software applications, financial literacy, etc. (The electives are specific to each high school).

Path Two is open to all 7th and 8th graders and offers them the opportunity to take a high school level band, choir or orchestra class.

Those enrolled in EHSO can earn one high school graduation credit in 7th grade and one in 8th grade.

Eligible students are notified in the spring of their 6th and 7th grade years as to their eligibility. Paperwork for the EHSO Music Program is also distributed at this time. District-wide parent meetings are held in May to introduce parents and guardians to EHSO.
