TPS RECEIVES FEDERAL GRANT FOR HEAD START PROGRAM

On June 12, the federal government announced that it had awarded Toledo Public Schools and two delegate agencies (WSOS Community Action and the Lucas County Family Council) an $8.1 million grant to run most of the Head Start operation in Lucas County. Staff members from TPS and the two other agencies are busy this summer signing up children, finding sites and hiring teachers and other staff. REGISTRATION UNDERWAY

Families interested in signing their children up for Early Head Start, Head Start or preschool are encouraged to call the Early Childhood Office at 419-671-8756 to schedule a registration appointment. Documents needed to register a child are: the child's birth certificate; three proofs of residence; a photo ID; household family income verification; custody papers if applicable and a medical insurance card for those applying for the Head Start program. We want to ensure that your child is ready to start school on Monday, September 8, 2014.
