Fine Arts

Toledo Public is committed to fostering a vibrant and inclusive fine arts education for all students. We believe that a comprehensive arts program is essential to the development of well-rounded, creative, and critically engaged individuals. The Fine Arts Program aims to nurture artistic talent and passion from an early age, encouraging students to pursue their interests and reach their full potential.

FINE ARTS PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

K-12 Programming
All TPS students have opportunities for art and music in our schools.

The Elementary Art and Music Program is dedicated to fostering creativity, self-expression, and appreciation for the arts among young students. Children explore various artistic media and musical concepts, helping to develop their cognitive, emotional, and social skills.

In the high school music course of study, performance is one of the main goals. Through a variety of instrumental and vocal music classes, students experience the effects and rewards of creative achievement. Participating students have the ability to earn a Fine Arts graduation seal. These courses also meet the fine arts requirement for graduation.

In the high school art curriculum, students explore the elements and principles of design, techniques for artwork production, creative problem-solving, and art appreciation. Exemplary artwork is submitted for jurying each year for participation in congressional, state, and local competitions. Participating students have the ability to earn a Fine Arts graduation seal. These courses also meet the fine arts requirement for graduation.

Fine Arts Festivals
TPS hosts annual Fine Arts Festivals to showcase the talents of our students. Our six comprehensive high schools partner with the elementary schools in their learning community to host an all-inclusive event dedicated to the arts. During each event, attendees experience multiple musical performances, view art exhibitions utilizing various art media and have the opportunity to create their own art projects.

Fine Arts Community Partnerships
Due to the support of local organizations including the Toledo Art Museum, Toledo Alliance for the Performing Arts, Toledo Opera, Toledo Symphony Orchestra, and the Valentine Theatre Foundation, Toledo Public Students have the opportunity to experience the fine arts including ballet, opera, museums, theater, and the symphony.
