Come learn about pioneer clothing

Come learn about pioneer clothing
Posted on 02/01/2023

Our TPS Lecture series continues on Thursday, February 9, at 7 p.m. at Waite High School with a presentation by Kathy Dowd, a local pioneer clothing and northwest Ohio military uniform expert.  She has a master's degree in historical clothing and was responsible for designing all the female apparel at the Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield, Illinois.

Come learn how and why early Toledo pioneers and  soldiers dressed a certain way, why homemade lye soap influenced settlers to only wash once a week, and so much more.  Live models and reenactors will present the clothing.

All lectures are free and open to the public. Enter the front of Waite and take the elevator to the second floor. This is another great opportunity to see the inside of one of our historic buildings.

If you are unable to attend in person, the lecture will be live streamed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqTVuPl_Quo
