Marshall STEMM Academy will hosted a dedication event for its “Moon Tree” today (Oct 11, 2024), which was planted on the school grounds back in June.
The school has received a tree seedling from NASA’s Artemis Moon Tree project, a sweetgum tree which was grown from a seed that orbited the moon during the agency’s Artemis I mission in 2022. After the flight, the “Moon Tree” was nurtured at a U.S. Forestry Service nursery before arriving at Marshall.
The Moon Tree program is part of NASA’s effort to spark student interest in science, technology, engineering and math.
