Community Engagement – Foster Care – Truancy Prevention – District Resources

Mrs. Baker leads all district initiatives supporting students and families in need. This includes grant writing, building strategic community partnerships and resource linkage ensuring all of our students and families who are in need of resources, experiencing homelessness or housing instability and students in foster care have what they need in order to be successful in school. Including registration, transportation, rental and utility assistance as well as financial coaching. She also oversees the TPS Housing Program and all truancy prevention interventions for the district including the Get Connected Truancy Prevention Program that links mentors with students and families to reduce truancy.

Pastor Brock acts as an impartial mediator reviewing concerns with a school or a district department that haven't been resolved directly. Students and parents are encouraged to work to resolve concerns directly with those involved, however, a student or parent is welcome to contact Pastor Brock.

Ms. Lake oversees community partnerships, including after school and summer programs, mental health and behavior supports, and other services for students and parents. Ms. Lake also oversees the TPS Hubs that provide a number of services for students, families, and community members.

Community Liaison
Ms. Gabriela Rodríguez is the Hispanic Outreach Coordinator for the advocacy and support of students, families and school staff. She provides language assistance, through interpretation and translation services, and helps engage parents in their students' school environment. She also provides support to students on their path to graduation, and post-graduation assists students with pursuits of higher education, trades or other employment.
La Sra. Gabriela Rodríguez es la Coordinadora de Alcance Hispano para defender y apoyar a los estudiantes, las familias y el personal escolar. Proporciona asistencia lingüística a través de servicios de interpretación y traducción y ayuda a involucrar a los padres en el entorno escolar de sus alumnos. Assistance for Students & Families Experiencing Homelessness or Housing Insecurity
Assistant Director, Homeless Education and Initiatives
Mrs. Welch supervises the MV HEART team who provides assistance to students who are experiencing homelessness. Mrs. Welch and the team provides school supplies, assistance with birth certificates, Tarta bus passes, clothing vouchers, hygiene kits, purchasing cap and gown, hotel stays, rental assistance, and other community resources and referrals to help students be successful in school. Mrs. Welch helps educate school staff regarding the Mckinney-Vento law.

Special Education Parent Liaison
Mrs. McCain helps families understand and navigate special education and participates in IEP/ETR meetings when requested. Mrs. McCain hosts workshops for parents, provides linkage to community resources, and provides resources to families of children with disabilities to improve academic, social, functional and behavioral achievement.

Parent, Family And Community Engagement Coordinator (PFCE)
Mrs. Shetterly leads the Family Support Partners (FSP) assigned to each preschool family. FSPs assist families in the enrollment process, complete needs assessments, partner with the family to create family goals and connect families to community resources.
