Life in Toledo

Evening Skyline

Downtown Toledo is the heart and soul of a resurging region. The streets are alive. New companies, investment and jobs are flowing in. The offices, the sidewalks, the shops and restaurants are thriving. It’s an energy you can feel. The city has a hum, a pulse, a vibe and a cosmopolitan character all its own. Our people are re-energizing the downtown, and they’re going places. Enjoying the Maumee River. Taking in a ballgame. Going to a gallery. Loving the nightlife. The center of a nine-county region of more than 600,000 people in Northwest Ohio, Toledo is a family-oriented city. People who move here are amazed at the maximum "20-minutes-by-car" time it takes to get anywhere in town.

A Crossroads Community

Situated on the Maumee River, a gateway to the St. Lawrence Seaway, Toledo is a transportation hub. The two major north-south and east-west interstates meet here, placing Toledo less than an hour from Detroit and four hours from Chicago. Lake Erie and its wonderful recreation opportunities are a short ride away.

  • My favorite thing about Toledo is all the great activities in the area. From the museum, to the parks, the farmers market, our fabulous zoo, and the variety of local restaurants that you can't find anywhere else, there is never a loss for things to do.

  • I love Toledo because it's a great place to raise a family! Also, the cost of living is affordable compared to our surrounding major cities.

  • I love Toledo because of the history and people of the city. We are famous for Libbey Glass, the Jeep Plant, and Tony Packo's Restaurant. With so much culture in just 83 square miles, what's not to love?
