Title IX - Student Involved Sexual Harassment

The U.S. Department of Education has published regulations for implementing Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, which prohibits sex discrimination in federally-assisted education programs.

Title IX states in part:  “No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.”

The Board ensures compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the regulations promulgated through the U.S. Department of Education.

Therefore, in compliance with Title IX, Toledo Public Schools' programs, activities, and practices shall be free from unlawful discrimination, including discriminatory harassment, intimidation, and bullying targeted at any student by anyone, based on the student's actual or perceived sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or gender expression.
