Kids at lunchA hungry student may have a hard time focusing on learning. That's why the Toledo Public Schools Food Service Department provides 7,000 breakfasts and 14,500 lunches for students every single school day.

We follow USDA guidelines to provide balanced and nutritious meals for our students, while also meeting specific dietary needs.

PRICES AND CHARGE POLICY

Elementary (Kindergarten Through Eighth Grade)
Breakfast: No cost
Lunch: No cost

High School
Breakfast: No cost
Lunch: No cost

It is the parent's or guardian's responsibility to provide lunch for a child, whether it's packed or received from the school.  All a la carte purchases are offered with the following policy:

High School

  • À la carte items cannot be charged.
  • Money remaining in a student's account will be carried forward to the next school year.

Additional Information

Meal modifications are made for students with special diets. A Special Diet Request form signed by a physician must be on file with the school cafeteria.

Menu Items

Student menus were recently updated upon the recommendation of a study group composed of parents and TPS staff members. The following items are now included in the student menus:

Elementary schools: Fresh fruit, including sliced oranges, and apples; vegetable sticks served with dressing; macaroni and cheese; tacos; tossed salads; and a variety of healthy snacks.

High schools: Walking tacos, pizza, sandwich wraps, salad bar, a burrito bar, and a variety of healthy snacks.

Special Nutrition Note

To avoid potential adverse reactions by students with peanut allergies, TPS has discontinued the use of peanut products, including peanut oil. None of the foods served to students contain trans-fats.

Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English.

To file a program discrimination complaint, complete the USDA Program Discrimination Complaint Form, AD-3027, found online at How to File a Program Discrimination Complaint and at any USDA office or write a letter addressed to USDA and provide in the letter all of the information requested in the form.
